Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has called for Trust Wallet to make its existing “Ignore coins” feature easier to access. He acknowledged that he previously underestimated how useful the tool is for managing unwanted tokens.
The comments follow his recent experience with meme-coin spam in a public wallet.
The Drivers of This Activity
On 17 August, Zhao posted that he had misjudged the value of being able to hide unsolicited tokens. After users pointed out its practicality, the Trust Wallet team confirmed that an “Ignore coins” option already exists in the app. However, reaching it currently requires five separate steps, making the control difficult to find.
Zhao said he expects the team to introduce updates that improve access to the feature. He noted that public blockchain addresses can receive tokens without the owner’s permission, while wallet software can only control what is displayed to the user.
The remarks came shortly after Zhao retired a closely watched public wallet that had become cluttered with unwanted meme coins during Trust Wallet testing. He had earlier transferred remaining assets from that address to Giggle Academy.
Impact and Broader Context
Making the ignore or hide function more prominent would help users declutter interfaces, especially those who maintain public or frequently used addresses that attract airdrops and spam tokens. Improved discoverability could reduce frustration and lower the risk of users mistakenly interacting with low-value or malicious assets.
Trust Wallet has not yet issued a formal statement confirming specific changes or a release timeline. The discussion highlights a common self-custody challenge: on-chain openness versus the practical need for clean, manageable wallet views.
Any product update from Trust Wallet, along with further user feedback, will show whether the access path is simplified in the near term.
