Web3 Policy Office is established by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) in the Minister’s Secretariat. As part of the new organization, the departments in charge of corporate taxes, industrial finance, and corporate system integration will be brought together, as will those in charge of media and content, sports, and other forms of entertainment.
According to a July 15 release, the new office’s purpose would be to enhance the framework for addressing business environment challenges relating to Web3.
The announcement stated:
“Given that some entrepreneurs pursuing Web3-related business are leaving Japan for opportunities overseas, deliberations toward developing the business environment in Japan need to be accelerated.”
Japan Forays Into Web3 and Metaverse

It is hoped that the new Web3 and Metaverse policy-making organization would bring together financial regulators and the creative sectors.
