Trading the major indices and mega-cap tech stocks — SPY, QQQ, AAPL, MSFT, NVDA, GOOGL, META, and TSLA — requires a clean, repeatable technical analysis framework. These assets move fast, react strongly to news, and are heavily influenced by institutional flows, so having a structured approach is essential.

Start with the higher timeframes. On the daily and weekly charts, identify the overall trend using the 50-day and 200-day moving averages. When price is above both, bias is bullish. When below, bias turns bearish. Look for clean higher highs and higher lows in uptrends or lower highs and lower lows in downtrends. The 200-day MA acts as major dynamic support or resistance — bounces off it often provide high-probability entries.

On the 4-hour and 1-hour charts, focus on key levels: previous day high/low, weekly open, and round psychological numbers (like 500 on NVDA or 200 on TSLA). Use volume profile to find high-volume nodes where price is likely to react. Support and resistance zones become even stronger when they align with Fibonacci retracement levels (especially 50% and 61.8%).

Price action is king. Look for clean candlestick patterns — engulfing candles, pin bars, or inside bars — at key levels. Combine this with RSI for divergence: bullish divergence (price makes lower lows while RSI makes higher lows) often signals reversals. MACD crossovers and histogram shifts help confirm momentum changes.

For entries, wait for confirmation rather than chasing. A strong bullish setup might include price holding above the 9 EMA on the 5-minute chart, a higher low, and increasing volume. Use tight stop-losses just below the most recent swing low or below a key moving average. Target the next major resistance level or use a 2:1 or 3:1 risk-reward ratio.

These names are highly correlated, especially during risk-on or risk-off moves. When QQQ breaks out, NVDA, AAPL, MSFT, GOOGL, META, and TSLA usually follow. Watch relative strength — if NVDA is outperforming while SPY is flat, it signals sector leadership.

Always respect the broader market context. Check VIX for volatility, monitor 10-year Treasury yields, and stay aware of upcoming earnings or Fed events that can trigger sharp moves in these liquid names.
