The wallet associated with Gopalani had just one remaining NFT valued around $59.
Gopalani may have unwittingly sent sensitive information to hacker as per RTFKT CTO.
Nikhil Gopalani, COO of RTFKT reported a hack of NFTs. As of December 2021, RTFKT, a next-generation crypto brand creating waves in the digital wearable industry and producing content in collaboration with artist Takashi Murakami, was acquired by Nike. On Monday, a fraudster apparently launched a phishing assault on Gopalani, and he lost his whole stash of NFTs.
At the time of writing, the wallet associated with Gopalani had just one remaining NFT, a Death Row Records NFT of “Clone X Theme Song” valued at about $59. Etherscan reveals that there is just $0.11 worth of ETH remaining in the wallet.
Highly Sought-after Murakami CloneX
OpenSea data shows that an attacker used two wallets to steal nearly $173,000 worth of NFTs from Gopalani’s wallet. This includes 19 CloneX NFTs with a total value of over $138,000, 18 RTKFT Space Pods with a value of over $6,300, 17 Loot Pods with a value of over $6,200, 11 CryptoKicks with a value of over $3,000, 19 RTFKT Animus Eggs worth around $20,200.
Keep in mind that these are only bargain estimates based on each collection’s floor price, so the actual value of Gopalani’s prior collection (which contained a highly sought-after Murakami CloneX, #17088) might be far higher.
At this writing, it looks like one of the attackers’ wallets is empty, while the other still has several of the COO’s assets. A statement from RTFKT CTO Samuel Cardillo reveals that Gopalani may have unwittingly sent sensitive information to a hacker impersonating an Apple official, while the specifics of the phishing assault are yet unknown.
