A new OKX survey of American investors has revealed a striking generational divide in cryptocurrency trust, with Gen Z and Millennials showing five times more confidence in crypto platforms than Baby Boomers, underscoring how younger demographics are accelerating mainstream adoption and reshaping the future of crypto investment trends.
Released on January 21, the study found that 40% of Gen Z respondents and 41% of Millennials rated their trust in crypto platforms highly (6 or above on a 10-point scale), compared to just 8% of Boomers. Additionally, one in five younger investors reported low trust in traditional finance, while 36% of Gen Z and 34% of Millennials noted their crypto confidence increased year-over-year—versus only 6% of Boomers. Looking ahead to 2026, 40% of Gen Z and 36% of Millennials plan to trade more cryptocurrency, nearly four times the 11% figure among older generations.
As OKX posted on X: “The finance trust gap is generational. Our US survey found: • Gen Z & Millennials are 5× more trusting of crypto • 1 in 5 have low trust in TradFi • 36%/34% saw crypto trust rise YoY, vs just 6% of Boomers Trust isn’t declared. It’s verified onchain.”
