Multinational banking powerhouse Standard Chartered has issued a bold new forecast, predicting that Ethereum will reach $30,000 by the end of 2029 as the network’s structural advantages drive outperformance against Bitcoin. The bank’s global head of digital assets research, Geoff Kendrick, declared 2026 “the year of Ethereum,” citing surging institutional demand and dominance in key sectors that position ETH for explosive long-term growth.
In the latest research note, Standard Chartered outlined a revised price trajectory: $7,500 by the end of 2026—adjusted lower from prior estimates due to near-term Bitcoin drag—followed by $15,000 in 2027, $22,000 in 2028, $30,000 in 2029, and a newly introduced $40,000 target for 2030. Kendrick emphasized Ethereum’s leadership in stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, and decentralized finance as core drivers, with network upgrades poised to boost layer-1 throughput tenfold over the coming years.
The bullish outlook persists despite acknowledging past forecast misses, reinforcing the bank’s view that Ethereum is evolving into critical on-chain infrastructure. Rising corporate treasuries holding ETH, continued ETF accumulation, and potential U.S. regulatory clarity further bolster the case for decoupling from Bitcoin weakness and independent rallies.
Prominent trader Kyle Doops shared the updated targets on X, posting: “Standard Chartered has dropped a bold long-term $ETH view: 2029 ETH target raised to $30,000. New 2030 target: $40,000.”
