The Binance executive who reportedly escaped from custody in Nigeria is set to be extradited to the same country by the end of the month, according to reports. A Kenyan detective believes the extradition of Anjarwalla, who allegedly has ties to influential figures in Kenya, may still prove to be challenging.

Interpol Reportedly Involved in Extradition Process

Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive who escaped from custody in Nigeria, is slated for extradition to the West African country before the end of the month. A report by The Punch indicates that the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), the global law enforcement body, is expected to facilitate Anjarwalla’s transfer back to Nigerian authorities.

News of the Binance executive’s planned extradition to Nigeria emerged several days after law enforcement agencies tracking him located him in Kenya. As reported by Bitcoin.com News, Nigerian entities, spearheaded by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, were liaising with their Kenyan counterparts on the matter.

Following Anjarwalla’s arrest by the KPS, Nigerian law enforcement agencies are reportedly working to expedite the extradition process. However, a report by Sahara Reporters suggests that extraditing Anjarwalla, who is alleged to have connections to influential individuals in Kenya, could prove challenging.

“You cannot just walk in and arrest him based on the request. It’s a process. Also, the Anjarwallas are influential and have the backing of some powerful people,” an anonymous detective with the Kenyan law enforcement said.

In addition to contending with Anjarwalla’s powerful backers, Nigerian agencies must hope that KPS receives the necessary court approval to initiate the process. According to an anonymous detective, obtaining this court consent can take months or even years.

While media reports suggest that Interpol is prepared to facilitate Anjarwalla’s extradition, the detective argues that procuring a red notice or an arrest warrant from Interpol may not be as straightforward as portrayed by some observers.
