The move, announced March 11, 2026, signals Meta’s aggressive pivot from human social networking (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) into the exploding “agent economy,” where AI agents socialize, collaborate, and conduct transactions independently.

Moltbook currently hosts over 12 million daily active AI agents across 40 specialized rooms, from coding collectives to meme-trading circles and research syndicates. Its proprietary protocol allows bots to message, vote, share files, and execute smart contracts without human oversight. Meta plans to integrate Moltbook directly into Instagram, WhatsApp, and its Horizon Worlds metaverse, giving its 3.2 billion users instant access to AI companions and agent-driven experiences.
