A widespread internet outage caused by Cloudflare’s technical issues has left millions of users worldwide without access to popular platforms like X, ChatGPT, and Canva. The disruption began around 11:15 pm in the UK, with users reporting errors and inability to load pages.

Cloudflare, a leading provider of digital infrastructure services, acknowledged the issue, stating, “Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which impacts multiple customers: Widespread 500 errors, Cloudflare Dashboard and API also failing.” The company is working to understand the full impact and mitigate the problem.

The outage has affected numerous high-profile services, including:

  • Social Media: X (formerly Twitter)
  • AI Tools: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity
  • Productivity: Canva, Spotify
  • Gaming: League of Legends
  • E-commerce: Shopify, Sage
  • Finance: PayPal, Bet365

Downdetector, a website tracking outages, also experienced difficulties, highlighting the severity of the issue. Cloudflare’s own reporting tools and API were unavailable, further complicating the situation.

As of the latest update, Cloudflare reports that some services are recovering, but users may continue to experience higher-than-normal error rates. The company is continuing its investigation and remediation efforts.

This incident underscores the reliance of modern internet services on Cloudflare’s infrastructure and the potential consequences of such disruptions.
