Binance, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has appointed SB Seker as its new Head of Asia-Pacific (APAC). Seker’s role includes enhancing Binance’s operations in the APAC region by fostering partnerships and encouraging more market adoption.

A key aspect of his mandate is also to enhance engagement with policymakers and regulators to ensure compliance within the region’s evolving regulatory landscape in one of the world’s most active cryptocurrency markets.

As per Binance’s announcement, Seker has over 20 years of experience in different fields, including government, traditional banking, financial technology, and cryptocurrencies. He previously held important roles at Crypto.com, where he worked on creating products and handling legal and regulatory issues for APAC and the Middle East. Prior to that, he worked at companies like Ant Group, Rothschild & Co., and Amicorp Group and was a lawyer for Australia’s central bank and a litigator in Australia.

The announcement shared that Seker’s diverse expertise equips him to navigate APAC’s complex regulatory and market environments. “APAC has always been a key region for Binance, and Seker’s deep-rooted experience across its diverse markets makes him uniquely positioned to lead the company’s next phase of regional growth and engagement,” said Richard Teng, CEO of Binance.

Sharing his views about this new role, Seker said, “I’m truly excited to join Binance to help shape a sustainable, innovative, and compliant future for the digital-asset ecosystem across the region alongside the talented team.”

The APAC region continues to drive digital-asset innovation and adoption, supported by evolving regulations and strong market momentum. SB Seker’s new role at Binance indicates the company’s focus on working with regulators and building operations that obey the rules in different countries. Under his leadership, the firm aims to advance responsible innovation and support the region’s ongoing crypto adoption.

Binance has been focusing on driving region-specific growth globally through strategic appointments recently. Earlier in July, Binance appointed Gillian Lynch as the new Head of Europe and the UK. Lynch, who has 20 years in fintech and regulatory roles at firms like Gemini and Bank of Ireland, was appointed to ensure compliance with the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.
