Huawei have two os running at the same time. In a breakthrough move, Huawei has secured a new patent that promises to enhance the user experience by allowing applications to run seamlessly across different operating systems. Recently, the National Intellectual Property Office of China published the patent, titled “A Method for Running Applications Across Systems and Electronic Devices” (patent number CN116775118B). Filed by Huawei Technologies in March 2022, the patent was officially granted in November 2024.
The technology outlined in the patent enables electronic devices to support two separate software systems and run applications from both systems simultaneously. This innovation specifically addresses the challenge of managing apps across different OS environments. By allowing one system to access and display apps from another, users will no longer need to switch between systems to use apps from both HarmonyOS and Android.
A Method for Running Applications Across Systems and Electronic Devices
The core feature of this technology is its ability to retrieve key application details—such as icons and executable paths—from a secondary system and display them on the primary system’s interface. This enables a smooth, uninterrupted experience where apps from different platforms are just a tap away.
With this development, Huawei is taking a step closer to making HarmonyOS and Android coexist on the same device, offering users a more flexible, efficient, and intuitive smartphone experience.
