The United States government has expressed gratitude to Nigeria for the release of Tigran Gambaryan, a senior executive at Binance Holdings Limited. Gambaryan, an American citizen, was detained in Nigeria in February on money laundering charges.

The Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had accused Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, the exchange’s British Kenya regional manager for Africa, of laundering $35 million. However, the U.S. government intervened, advocating for Gambaryan’s release on humanitarian grounds.

In a statement, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan confirmed that Gambaryan had been released and was returning to the United States for medical treatment. Sullivan expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s cooperation and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the two countries.
