Tether and the Swiss city of Lugano have collaborated to unveil a statue dedicated to the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. This statue, situated in front of Villa Ciani, is a unique piece of art that gradually reveals and conceals the image of a man focused on his laptop, symbolizing Nakamoto’s disappearance from public view after laying the foundation for the decentralized financial system.
Lugano’s commitment to crypto adoption has been significant. As part of the Plan ₿ initiative, launched in collaboration with Tether two years ago, the city has recognized Bitcoin, Tether, and its own stablecoin LVGA as legal tender. This has enabled residents to pay taxes and public service fees using these digital assets.
The annual Plan ₿ forum, hosted by Lugano, brings together key figures from the blockchain industry, government officials, and cryptocurrency enthusiasts to discuss the future of digital assets and decentralized finance. The unveiling of the Satoshi Nakamoto statue further solidifies Lugano’s position as a hub for innovation and a forward-thinking city embracing the potential of blockchain technology.
