A Nigerian court has once again denied bail to Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive facing charges in the country. Despite his deteriorating health, including a herniated disk that has made walking difficult, Judge Emeka Nwite ordered that Gambaryan remain in prison.
Gambaryan’s lawyer, Mark Mordi, argued that his client needed to be released to seek proper medical care. However, Judge Nwite ruled that Gambaryan’s condition did not warrant bail, unless his continued imprisonment posed a risk to other detainees and quarantine facilities were unavailable.
The decision has left Gambaryan’s family disheartened. His wife expressed frustration at the “unjust” denial of medical treatment for her husband.
The case has also drawn attention to allegations made by Binance CEO Richard Teng, who claimed that the company was asked for a “secret” payment to resolve its issues in Nigeria. Nigerian authorities have denied these allegations, calling them a distraction from Binance’s activities.
