Apple may be getting ready to integrate ChatGPT AI into its upcoming iOS 18 software for iPhones and iPads. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is close to finalizing a deal with OpenAI to build ChatGPT’s features directly into iOS.
Users may soon be able to leverage ChatGPT’s language skills to get help with writing, get answers to questions, analyze information, and even code all on their iPhone or iPad. However, It’s still unclear if Apple will give users a way to disable these AI features.
Just last month, reports said Apple was aggressively hiring AI talent from rivals like Google. Apple has also been buying up AI startups and quietly built a “secret” AI research lab in Switzerland.
The ChatGPT integration shows Apple is willing to work with other companies on groundbreaking AI tech, rather than go it entirely alone. Apple is also reportedly in discussions with Google about integrating Google’s Gemini chatbot, though a deal with OpenAI seems closer.
As AI keeps rapidly advancing, Apple seems determined not to be left out. The race to be the AI leader is really heating up.
