Telegram, a platform for instant messaging, stated on Friday that the domain name auctions will begin shortly since the marketplace for supplying unique names is finalized. Telegram has partnered with the TON blockchain to provide usernames. Thereby, the value of one Toncoin (TON) has increased by close to 12 percent in the last day.

The marketplace’s creation has been concluded, and domain name auctions will commence soon, as revealed on the official Telegram Usernames channel.

Banking on 700 Million Users
A few weeks ago, Telegram’s CEO and co-founder Pavel Durov revealed plans to provide users with their own distinctive identities. On the TON blockchain marketplace, users will be able to purchase and trade usernames.

Telegram claims that the platform’s launch is imminent and that work has already concluded. It advises that users should try to get the most sought-after usernames and record their ownership of them on the unchangeable TON blockchain.

The domain/wallet names were recently auctioned off by TON. The price of wallet.ton, at 215,250 Toncoin, was almost $260,000, while the price of casino.ton, at approximately $244,000, was the higher of the two.

The CEO believes Telegram’s 700 million users will help the service succeed. He plans to sell access to channels, groups, and user names at auction. In addition, all four-letter usernames will be up for grabs, including popular ones like @bank, @club, game, and gift in addition to more unique ones like @storm and @royal.
