NFT tickets will be available for all S. S. Lazio home games as a result of the agreement.
Existing ticket holders would be able to collect their NFT tickets for free.
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance is testing its non-fungible token (NFT) ticketing solution with football club Societa Sportiva Lazio for the 2022 to 2023 season in response to the mayhem created by counterfeit UEFA Champions League tickets.
A statement from Binance said that NFT tickets would eliminate ticket scalping and counterfeiting, which will help prevent conflict at sports events from occurring. The NFT tickets will not only grant entry to events, but they will also get discounts at stores and matches, token giveaways, and other opportunities to interact with S. S. Lazio.
NFT and Blockchain to the Rescue
NFT tickets will be available for all S. S. Lazio home games as a result of the agreement. An official at S.S. Lazio, Marco Canigiani said that existing ticket holders would be able to collect their NFT tickets for free and use them to enter Stadio Olimpico and benefit from the privileges that come with digital tickets.
According to Binance Exec Zoe Wei, the introduction of NFT ticketing is an important example of how Web3 technology can be used in a new and innovative manner. The use of blockchain-based tickets, according to Wei, may one day extend beyond sports and into the world of entertainment as a whole.
UEFA blamed the mayhem during the Champions League final in Paris in May on hundreds of fraudulent tickets. Traditional ticketing methods were brought to light during this event, prompting responses from Web3 specialists on how blockchain-based ticketing can be a viable alternative. As a result of possessing confirmation of ticket validity, event organizers will be protected against counterfeit tickets.
